Birthday Invitations for a 1 year old girl :)

Recently I received a request through Belly Laughs to make birthday invitations for a little girl's first birthday. Her mom wanted a 'girly' invitation with pink, purples and butterflies. Her birthday isn't until January, and I was planning on ordering "Flight of the Butterfly" so I waited until I got it to complete it. Here's what I came up with - I'm very happy with it and certainly hope that the little girl's mom is too! A quick laundry list of supplies used:

Stamp Sets - Fight of the Butterfly, Family Phrases, Grand Soiree
Cardstock - So Saffron, Perfect Plum
Ink - Perfect Plum, Pretty in Pink, VersaMark
Accessories - Stamp-a-ma-jig (necessary for 2-step stampin' with this set), Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Large Oval Punch, 1" Circle Punch

The Sizzix Big Shot is Coming!

Exciting news everyone! Stampin' Up! has partnered with Sizzix and will be selling the Sizzix Big Shot Manual Die Cutting Machine starting on September 2! Cut through several layers of cardstock, thin fabric, felt, leather and even thin craft metal sheets! This is a non-electric machine so it's super portable, not electrical outlets needed!

Although I really wanted it, my business couldn't really afford it... Until DH told me he'd get it for me as an early 30th Birthday gift (my Birthday is in November). Did I tell you how wonderful my husband is? Well, at this moment, lol! So, my wonderful UPS guy will be bringing me my Big Shot THIS Thursday!!! Stampin' Up! has some exclusive dies for the Big Shot, as well as existing Sizzix dies. We currently have a great Starter Package that comes with EVERYTHING you need to get started, including dies and various cutting mats! See mor
e info in the Stampin' Up! Big Shot Brochure.

Want to try the Big Shot out? Join me on World Cardmaking Day, October 4th, from 3-5 PM to make a card using the Big Shot Die Cutting System. This is a free event and more details will come!

This week I also received all my goodies that I ordered from the new catalogue! New ribbon, new stamp sets, new Designer Series Paper! Love it ALL! I'm posting a few pics of cards I've made with the new sets and the Parisian Summer DP. I wish I had tim
e to make more... all in time I suppose :) Here are some pics, for the two Christmas cards I did two similar cards but with different techniques :)

'Flight of the Butterfly' and 'Heard from the Heart' Stamp sets, So Saffron Cardstock with Parisian Summer DP. This is a 2-step stampin' set and Stamp-a-ma-jig is VERY recommended to get a good result - you can see how similar in size the two butterfly stamps are and how important good alignment is. Of course there's some silver embossing too ;)

'Heritage Holiday' Stamp Set (2nd card also uses 'Many Merry Messages' set), Real Red Cardstock, DP from Level III Hostess Bundle (includes 4 stamps, DP and Rub-ons), Silver and Clear Rhinestone Brads, Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon on 1st card and Chocolate Chip Taffeta on 2nd card, Silver Embossing

Finally, the 'Snow Swirled' Stamp Set (by far my favorite), Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss/Ridinghood Red cardstock, Rhinestone Brads, Chunky Essentials Glitter, Versamark, Silver Embossing

That's it for today - keep letting stamps bring out your creativity!

Busy Busy Busy!

Long time no write! I know, I've been somewhat MIA but I've been busy with many things. Preparing for our (much needed) holiday and just enjoying the summer weather! But also I've been busy stamping, of course! My Decor Elements came in and let me just say, I'm impressed! Another quality product from Stampin' Up! Of course I would expect nothing less! Right away I dove into them and put up the Stem Silhouettes (medium size) . I used the instructions provided with them to be sure that they were good. Within 20 minutes and no hassle later they were on the wall! They're pretty well idiot proof and the instructions are well written. So without further ado, here they are :)

I've also been busy making invitations. I've got a dino themed birthday as well as a baby shower invitation. I just love the onesies. Saw this a while back and I had to make them! Tell me what you think :) They're easy to make but I think they just look great!

I'm also excited by the new Catalog. Last Tuesday the
Demonstrator Sneak Peak was unveiled and let me tell you, good things are coming in the new catty! Stay tuned for more info!

I also have another retiring catalog special to offer you - from today to July 20th. Purchase any In Color products (cardstock, ribbon, ink) and get 10% off!
I'm going on holiday next week and will be placing this order on July 21st so be sure to send your orders in before then!

Thanks for reading and keep letting stamps bring out your creativity!

Stampin' Up!'s New Offering: Décor Elements!!!

I'm VERY excited to present to you Stampin’ Up!'s new product, an addition to the Definitely Decorative product line, cor Elements It will be available for customers to purchase on July 1, 2008.

More and more people are using Stampin’ Up!’s rubber stamps and accessories to customize their home. Because of this demand, Stampin’ Up! is now offering additional coordinating home décor products for making customized personal space easy, cost effective and flexible. These Elements are like giant rub-ons for your wall, made of vinyl. They're easy to apply and easy to remove when you decide to change the look of your room! Much easier than stamping designs on your wall, and much less permanent, too!

I'm oh so excited about this product - it will make decorating with Stampin' Up!'s beautiful artwork much easier for those of you who aren't sure about this whole "Stampin' Thing". I was going to stamp some fun images on Anna's bedroom walls when we make her room into a 'big girl' room. But that's been scrapped - LOL! I'll be using these cor Elements instead! The only problem... which ones to choose???

Check out the awesome cor Elements Brochure. Remember that this is only Phase I, there are many many more great designs to come! I would love to talk to you and your friends about this product and how to decorate your spaces with them. Contact me today at monkeypapercrafts@gmail.com or 613-836-8844 to book your workshop!

Fresh Cuts - A Sneak Peek Into the New Catalog!!!

This month Stampin' Up! is offering a sneak peek into the new catalog! Very very exciting and there are a few great promotions associated with this sneak peek :) Included in this promotion are the Fresh Cuts die-cut stamp set and coordinating 4x4 Fresh Cut notes! (Image from Stampin' Up! website)
This is a super versatile set that can be used in many many different ways! I LOVE the large background stamp and have had a ball playing with this set. And it's die-cut, so it just takes moments to mount!!!

This month, purchase the Fresh Cuts Stamp set for only $25.95 and the Coordinating Laser-Cut Notes for only $5.95 (plus applicable shipping and taxes). This is also a great month to be a hostess - host a workshop of $525 and get the Fresh Cuts stamp set and Coordinating Notes FREE - that's an additional $35 in hostess benefits!!! You can find more info on the Stampin' Up! webpage.

To show you the versatility of this set, take a look at the three very different cards I made with it. I especially love the silver embossed background stamp :) I also used the 5-Petal Flower punch on these cards - a great reason to get this punch ;)

Blue and Silver - what a wonderful combination!

Wow, another post - I'm not doing all too bad with this blogging business :p I recently had the pleasure of making Thank You cards for a bride. Three cards for her bridesmaids, one for her mom, and another for her father. This lucky bride was actually a door prize winner from my Belly Laughs Mother's Day event - she won 5 handstamped cards! Her wedding colours are cornflower blue and silver, so after looking at my many designs, she chose the ones below and I adapted them to match her colours. I never thought to focus on this color combination so it was lots of fun to play and change my existing designs to fit :) I was thrilled with the result, as was the bride (which was most important). I also love how even though the cards all focus on silver and blue, they're all so very different. Here they are, they've definitely inspired me to choose a color combination and run with it to see what I come up with! Try it - it'll definitely get those creative juices flowing :D

My First Wedding Invitations!

This week-end I helped my best friend and her fiance make their wedding invitations. They wanted something modern and simple and their wedding colors are chocolate brown and fuschia. So, using the modern bride stamp from the "She's All That" stamp set and Chocolate Chip/Purely Pomegranate cardstock, I came up with this design for them. For the invitation in this photo I actually used the Rose Red cardstock so I can show it off even after the Purely Pomegranate retires :p But you get the idea. We embossed the bride in clear embossing powder and the ribbon is the 1/4" Chocolate Chip Poly-twill ribbon in the Occasions Mini :) I love it and hope you do to! I know the happy couple loves it and that's the most important thing!

This was a lot of fun and I'd love to do more invitations! Contact me today for your consult!

Cards, Albums and More

Well, it's been a little TOO long since I've updated this blog. But as some of you know, my 2 year old daughter has been dealing with some medical issues and blogging hasn't been at the top of my list of priorities. But, I have been stamping lots to relieve stress, and have made a few REALLY fun projects.

First... my Grandmother turned 95 (YES! 95!) on Tuesday. My Dad is currently in the Czech Republic with her so I made her a birthday gift and card. The gift was completely handmade photo album, filled with pictures of her great granddaughter. I still love my One of a Kind stamp set and coordinating Boho Blossoms punch so I used that as well as Rose Red cardstock and Bali Breeze Designer Paper to complete the project. How did I create the inside pockets of the album where the photos go? I used clear envelopes! I punched two holes in the envelope flaps that would ordinarily fold over and voila! Photo album pockets :) Here's a picture of the finished product - I was rather pleased if I do say so myself!

I then made a (somewhat) matching pocket card. Still lots of work, still TOTALLY worth the effort :)

Finally, it was my Dad's Birthday on May 15th. Yes, lots of Birthdays and Anniversaries this month! I made him a pocket card as well, but more importantly, I was excited to use this stamp from the Level 3 Hostess Set, Older and Wiser. It reads "Your childhood dream has come true" "You're finally older". I just loved this and new my Dad wouldn't be insulted ;) Here's the card I made for him! I stamped the "You're finally older" on the Old Olive Cardstock, the Whisper White cardstock has to be lifted to see it.

I'll try updating more often in the near future... thanks for reading :D

Stamp It Up for Mom @ Belly Laughs

What a fun day! I had my Mother's Day Event at Belly Laughs and let me tell you, it was lots of fun! The kids had a great time making cards with the Loonies for Littles Kit. Although I had designed a card for inspiration, they came up with fun and unique designs of their own - I loved seeing that wonderful creativity in young, budding stampers :) I never realized the potential that this Stamping Kit had - a GREAT deal for $32.50! Thanks to all those who came out - it was great meeting you! Here is the card I designed with the Loonies set, but like I said, the kiddies' cards were much much better ;)

I'd also like to offer a Big Congratulations to Lori M., Stephanie F. and Erin C. - they were the door prize winners!!! Last but not least, a HUGE THANK YOU to Sandra and the rest of Belly Laughs for allowing me to use their space!!!

Anniversary Card for DH!

I recently learned how to make a Trifold Pocket Card using This Tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers. Of course I had to try it right out! Lucky me, it's my 6th (YES, 6th!!!) wedding anniversary tomorrow so I had the perfect occasion to make this wonderfully complex yet surprisingly easy card! I also used my rounded corner punch to create the scallops and used my new Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the words on top in Close to Cocoa and then stamp again in VersaMark so I could emboss with Iridescent Ice. I LOVE the final result! Let me know what you think and if you have any questions on how I did it :) I'm constantly amazed by the wonderful things I can make!

One of a Kind Stamp Set and Boho Blossoms Punch

I just got this set and in short, I LOVE it! It's the 'One of a Kind' Stamp set and coordinating Boho Blossoms punch. No more cutting out flowers... just use the punch and get three flowers in one shot! I'm starting to have TOO MANY favorite sets. But if you're like me and don't particularly cutting shapes out, this set and punch may just be for you. Check out card and photo frame I made with it... I also used felt flowers as well as Bali Breeze Designer Paper in the frame.

Chipboard Photo Frames

My chipboard coasters came on Monday so I dove right in and made a few chipboard photo frames. Too much fun, using Pretty in Pink as well as Close to Cocoa Designer papers and of course embossing. Take a look - hope you like what you see! And yes, I could make boy styles too :p
